Basic formulas for calculating dimensions and tolerances are included, with guidance on obtaining the fit desired. Terms used are defined. The Standard also describes methods of gauging and inspecting splines, with methods of obtaining dimensions and tolerances for gauges. Inspection of splines using pins is covered and tables of measurements over and between pins are included.
